Cath Eades passed away late last week in Perth, after battling health issues in the last few years.
 
Cath’s radio career included stints at 8DN, 7BU, 2CC and 2CA. She also worked at CTC 7 and Capital Ten Canberra as a presenter, producer, writer and studio director.
 

 
 
 

Jones has an effect on Survey 3 in Canberra

The Jones effect on 2CC has been minimal but positive in the latest GFK Canberra Survey with the station gaining 1.5 overall and 0.5 in breakfast.

Alan Jones replaced Tim Shaw in mid July and the Ray Hadley Morning Show was extended to run from 9am to midday.

Most gains on 2CC have been in the 55+ demographics and the biggest gain during the day was in mornings, up 3.9 to 9.0.

2CC and 2CA move into new studios

2CA and 2CC have moved into the new state-of-the-art Canberra Radio Centre in Crace.

The Centre is a purpose built, multi-million-dollar investment in radio broadcasting for the Canberra region, boasting eight radio studios equipped with the very latest digital broadcasting technology.

Commercial radio in Canberra goes digital

  The Edge Digital – urban R&BCommercial radio will officially switch on DAB+ digital radio broadcasts in Canberra tomorrow providing digital quality sound and more station choice for listeners in the capital.
 
All four commercial radio stations, 2CA, 2CC, Mix 106.3 and Hit 104.7 will broadcast in digital, alongside several commercial digital-only stations, with more new stations to launch in coming months.

2CA breakfast presenter sacked after harassment investigation

2CA breakfast presenter Frank Vincent has been sacked after a harassment investigation.

It is understood that allegations of sexual harassment were investigated last year by the station, leading the dismissal today.

A statement from Radio Canberra says:

"Following allegations of harassment by an employee in the workplace, the board of Radio Canberra Pty Ltd directed management to engage an independent party to investigate the claims.

New home being built for 2CC and 2CA Canberra

Canberra radio stations 2CC and 2CA are located in an industrial complex in the ACT suburb of Mitchell (pictured right), where their premises are a bit old and tired.

However, by the end of the year, the stations will have moved to a brand new, purpose-built studio complex next to their transmitter site, just a few kilometres away, on land that has been owned by the stations for many years.

2CC convoy lead bike and truck auctions

Over the last couple of mornings, the Tim Shaw Breakfast Show 2CC has held live auctions for the rights to be the Lead Bike and Lead Truck at this Sunday’s Convoy For Cancer Families. 
 
Local and interstate trucking companies and motorcycle groups all came together in the live auctions.  The final total raised was   $172,400,  a record for the Canberra Convoy which is in its 5th year.

Don Dawkins paddles into the sunset after 40 years in radio

Yesterday radioinfo announced the retirement of Capital Radio Network Group Content Director Don Dawkins.  

Don's career started in Bega in 1974 and finishes 40 years later in Canberra, and we thought we should catch up with him before he jumps in his kayak and heads off into the sunset.
