About the Role

This role is responsible for providing efficient daily content production to ensure ABC News delivers a consistently high standard of original, creative and relevant material to NT Radio audiences and other platforms.

Under general direction of the News Editor Darwin, you will:

  • Produce, sub and read content for radio broadcast using a range of production systems.
  • Write and check stories for factual and style errors/inconsistencies and ensure content is accurate, timely and innovative.
  • Liaise with state newsroom and network colleagues to ensure appropriate coverage of metro and Territory stories.
  • Present radio bulletins as required.
  • Contribute original story ideas

About You

You will be an established Journalist/ Producer who possesses a wide range of knowledge of news issues with a strong understanding of and commitment to the needs of the diverse audience of the ABC.

You will also demonstrate:

  • Digital and broadcast journalism skills with experience working in a news environment
  • Strong understanding of online news, including social media and methods of online content distribution and engagement
  • A track record as a meticulous, fast and accurate sub-editor 
  • Accomplished on-air presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a small team.
