NEMBC Member Engagement and Marketing Officer - Melbourne

Member Engagement and Marketing Officer (MEMO) Salary: Between $50 to 60,000 per annum, depending on experience (plus 9.5 % superannuation) The NEMBC The NEMBC is the national peak organisation representing ethnic community radio broadcasters throughout Australia. There are over 600 member radio programs at over 100 metropolitan and regional stations, broadcasting in some 100 languages and producing over 2500 hours of local programming each week. Ethnic community broadcasting is an incredibly diverse sector, serving the needs of hundreds of thousands of Australians of all ages in urban and regional areas right across the country. It is also highly cost-effective, harnessing the skills, expertise and time of more than 4000 volunteers from 125 distinct cultural groups who create 2,500 hours of content, every week in over 108 languages, which are broadcast via 80 radio stations. Government funding plays a highly important role in catalysing and building the capacity of this voluntary sector. We are a Not-For-Profit member-based organisation with over 600 radio program members. Each radio program represents more than one person, which means we have thousands of broadcasters as members. We presently communicate with our members via MailChimp, emails, our triennial Magazine, at forums and through projects. We also use social media but we require a better understanding of our membership base and their social-media savvy ability to enhance our communication. The position This is a new position and we are willing to be flexible with the hours as long as you can deliver on Duties and outcomes. The successful applicant won’t be alone because the Executive Officer and Operations Officer have experience in this area but the successful applicant will need to be brave and jump in. We need a solid commit to a year of hard work, fun and sometimes frustration; we are not going to promise you an easy ride but there will be some great rewards. With a strong focus on social media; the role of the Member Engagement and Marketing Officer (MEMO) is to increase the capacity of the NEMBC to achieve better engagement methods and outcomes for our members AND to use social media to generate marketing, brand recognition and financial growth opportunities. We need a commitment to our values of working with culturally and linguistically diverse communities and to consider our valuable volunteer broadcasters and the contribution they make to the Australian society. This position is as much about community as it is about social media. The successful applicant will have to be good at social media but good at communicating and understanding our radio stations and members. If you can combine social media expertise and the importance of grassroots community values then this is the job for you. The successful applicant needs to be able to engage with radio stations and the NEMBC’s members and Ethnic community radio broadcasters across Australia. The hours of work can be flexible as long as the MEMO can achieve the Duties outlined in the full application document. There may be intensive work periods and also quiet times. We envisage at least an overall four-day a week position and work hours would be at the NEMBC Secretariat, in Abbotsford Melbourne.
