About the role
 
Macquarie Media has an exciting opportunity for a radio producer who specialises in breaking news and current affairs to join the 2GB team.  Based in Pyrmont, this role will see you organising interviews, breaking news and producing informative and entertaining radio. It is a rare chance to work with an energised team at the leading edge of current affairs and radio journalism.
Duties will include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

  • create, develop and assist with the day-to-day production of high-quality radio programs that are compliant with applicable laws and broadcasting regulations;
  • provide comprehensive support to the program presenter and to the Executive Producer;
  • research, write and edit scripts, stories, segments and interviews, with all material cross-checked for accuracy;
  • edit and upload podcasts and other online content in a timely fashion;
  • create and communicate detailed show rundowns;
  • work with the Executive Producer to collaborate with editorial, sales and promotions teams;
  • create new ways for the audience to connect with content that is beyond the current experience;
  • ensure all program content is on-brand and consistent across all channels including on air, online, social media, mobile etc.;
  • maintain a good understanding of the station’s listener profile;
  • keep up to date with news and current affairs to ensure program content is topical and well-researched.

 
What we are looking for
 
We are looking for a candidate with the following attributes and experience:

  • an excellent knowledge of news and current affairs;
  • experience in radio or other news media;
  • journalism experience;
  • ability to recognise a good story when you hear it;
  • strong verbal and broadcast-writing skills;
  • highly organised;
  • team player;
  • flexible;
  • capacity to work in a fast-paced, deadline-focused environment; and
  • excellent understanding of media and broadcast law.
