Geoff Field “losing patience” with Australia’s politicians on same sex marriage

Hit104.1 2dayFM newsreader Geoff Field starred on the weekend in a Lip-Sync battle fundraiser.

The Mardi Gras charity event in Sydney was a sell out and by all accounts Geoff’s lip syncing to ABBA’s  “Thank you for the Music”, a crowd favourite.

“It was great to put a wig on again, I haven’t done it since I did a cameo in Priscilla – I had such a great time, but I’m not real a wig man.”

The event took place as the US Supreme Court ruled same-sex marriage a right nationwide, putting the issue back on the Australian political agenda.

Geoff has been with his partner Jason for 20 years and famously took part in the December 2005 “illegal wedding” broadcast on the 2 Day FM network and Sunrise.

“After that even the Greens introduced a marriage equality bill into parliament which wasn’t even debated”, says Geoff.  “10 years on and although public opinion has changed our stubborn politicians remain out of step with the community.”

“I am positive, but I am rapidly losing my patience.”
