After 17 seasons calling AFL and winning the under 55 market, Triple M has again rolled the competition!

Footy fans in Melbourne continue to choose a more engaging and entertaining call team including Brayshaw, Lyon, Frawley, Dunstall, Cometti and Wayne Carey.

Triple M is the #1 station under 55 in all the weekend football sessions.

Key highlights of the station’s dominance in the under 55 demographic include:

·         #1 all footy Friday night (and the only station to deliver increases) with a share of 10.0
·         #1 all footy on Saturday afternoon with a share of 12.5
·         #1 all footy on Saturday night with a share of 12.9
·         #1 all footy on Sunday with a share of 10.3
Triple M Network Content Director, Mike Fitzpatrick said the key is ‘The Triple M Footy Rub’, the Friday and Saturday pre-game shows,:  “The Friday and Saturday Rubs are our football brekky shows and they’ve become ‘must listen to radio’. Saturday just isn’t complete without Jim, Wolf, Spud, Chu and Damo. Add Denis into the mix and it’s the only choice. The fact that we can hold figures like this with some frankly un-inspiring Saturday arvo draw’s is testament to the great team.”

Triple M announces that three surveys into its five year deal to call the NRL’s most prominent games…. It has already lost almost 100% of its “over 70’s” audience.

The iconic station’s shock admission cements its major rival as the dominant force for Sydney’s NRL loving senior citizens.  Triple M management is said to be in damage control as it attempts to win back a range of advertisers catering the key 70+ demographics.

A Triple M spokesperson (otherwise known as Content Director Jamie Angel) said, “We’re proud of the effort we’ve put into our calls we just can’t crack that oldies market.  Commercial FM radio is only 33 years old in Australia and maybe we just need to give this ground-breaking broadcasting technology more time. Unfortunately AM radio remains king in sitting rooms and lawn bowls clubs across Sydney. Triple M NRL will have to Settle with being dominant number 1 station for Sydney’s men under 50 .”

Today’s fifth Nielsen radio ratings* for 2013 cement Triple M Sydney as the #1 NRL call station for men under 50.  The station that plays the best real music also remains the number one choice for men aged 25-54 and is overall the number one pick for Sydney’s workday. Triple M Sydney is:

# 1 NRL call station for men under 50
#1 FM Sydney station for men aged 25-54
#1 FM workdays in Sydney, 8.3 share in mornings, 8.0 share in afternoons

Triple M’s NRL call features ex-players, current players and the experts.  Peter ‘Sterlo’ Sterling, Matty Johns, Ryan Girdler, Andrew “Joey” Johns, Mark ‘MG’ Geyer and Gorden Tallis just to name are few are Triple M’s NRL call, NRL is in their blood.
