Online traffic reporting offers real time competition

The radio industry’s biggest supplier of traffic reports is now a major online competitor.

The Australian Traffic Network has launched its real time live national traffic website GetTraffic.com.au and smartphone users will now have a significant alternative method of finding traffic snarls in their city.

The Australian Traffic Network (ATN) Managing Director Bill Pezzimenti says the Get Traffic website will provide welcome relief to the millions of Australians who battle to and from work each day.

“This is a unique website in that it provides premium traffic information to motorists and passengers on the spot,” he says.

“Being stuck in traffic would have to be one of the most frustrating things on the roads, so at the very least, this new website can help provide information and solutions to help.”

ATN has elevated traffic reporting to a specialist field, cornering a valuable sector of the peak hour communications industry with its constant flow of traffic reporting.

The master of traffic is ATN’s Vic Lorusso, a passionate and dedicated reporter of pile-ups and bingles. He is now one of the country’s most recognised household names.

Next week, radioinfo takes you Flying High with Vic Lorusso in the ATN Traffic Chopper.

Find out how it all works and how Peter Saxon kept his lunch down while Vic worked for four radio stations and one television network all at once from his tiny office up in the air above Sydney. Next week on radioinfo.
