Mel Grieg’s lawyers have issued a statement revealing that she will appear at the Jacintha Saldanha inquest.

The statement, issued today by Slater & Gordon, says:

“Ms Saldanha’s suicide was a devastating tragedy and Ms Greig’s thoughts have been with the family ever since.

“Ms Greig fully understands their need for answers, which is why she has taken this step to appear as an individual at the inquest. She is determined to address any questions surrounding her role in these tragic events as part of the inquest.

“Ms Greig wants the family to know she will answer any questions the coroner or the family’s lawyers may have at the inquest.”

The news comes after the publication of a leaked suicide note in the UK press yesterday, where the nurse blames MC and Mel for her actions.

Another note, as yet unpublished, is believed to refer to a dispute she was having with hospital management.

Last year SCA donated the profits from several months 2Day FM advertising into a trust fund for the Saldhanha’s family. The amount donated was $500,000.

Michael Christian is back on air at Fox FM and Mel Grieg has not yet returned to air.
