Halliwell to host on Today network

Former Spice Girl turns radio DJ to bring listeners oldschool tunes.

Current Australia’s Got Talent judge and former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is set to join her co-judge and 2Day FM breakfast announcer Kyle Sandilands as a regular co-host on the Kyle and Jackie O Show in Sydney. Halliwell is also set to take up residence behind the mic across the Today Network, bringing back the oldschool tunes to radio starting today, Monday 19 August, in her own timeslot.

Halliwell is one of four Australia’s Got Talent judges alongside Kyle, Timomatic and Dawn French. On Today Network radio stations she’ll take listener on a trip back in time with oldschool specials on the networks major metropolitan stations. She is set to have listeners reminiscing as she spins her favourite oldschool tracks and adds personal stories about everyone from Oasis to George Michael and Robin Thicke.

Geri Halliwell said: “How exciting, I have got my own slot on the radio. Hopefully you Aussies will like it!”

The network has released a ‘here’s what you can expect from spicy Geri’. See below:
“It’s me Geri Halliwell, that English girl, now a woman apparently, I’m in Aus so I’ve come to be a DJ…this record I’m going to play you is just brilliant, it’s Fugees.” Cue Killing Me Softly.

“Are you ready class, this is your new teacher! So I’ve got to tell you about Robin Thicke, I was listening to his first album when I was in Los Angeles and I was living with George Michael, I remember being in his outside swimming pool and discovering this album and thinking oh my god he is so cool, I think he was kind of the cool version of Justin Timberlake…if you listen to his lyrics they’re quite naughty.” Cue When I Get You Alone.

“If you’re wondering who this is, who is this Brit bird, it’s Geri Halliwell and I’m taking over your lunch time. The next record is Oasis and I’ve got a funny story to tell you… back in the day, Spice Girls and Oasis were frenemies so to speak, but now cut to 15 years later every morning I see Liam jogging in the park, instead of ignoring each other we do a little hug… it’s quite sweet, that we’ve all grown up and we’re all friends now.” Cue Wonderwall.
