Drex is back

Remember when Drex was sacked for his MILF question to the Canadian Premier. He’s back…

Drex made headlines and was fired at the start of the year for asking Canadian B.C. Premier Christy Clark how she felt to be a MILF. Read how we covered it back then.

After his sacking he was given another chance with a freelance gig at CFOX.

Things seem to have worked out well and Drex has told radioinfo he “has now been appointed as the permanent Evening host at 99.3 CFOX Vancouver.” View his show page here.

The former PD and morning host at Zinc Central Queensland, Justin ‘Drex’ Wilcomes has been living and working in Canada the last 4 years.

At the time of his sacking he wrote about his mistake:

I have been fired my fair share of times for dumb shit that I have brought on myself. I’m man enough to admit that… But this one hit me hard.

I came to Canada 3 years to work for Vista Radio, and for those 3 years I was extremely loyal. I helped them build their web presence, online streaming, helped them develop their social media policies; I even built them a radio station from scratch, 103.5 the Bridge in Nelson.

I love what I do, and always try and think outside the box, I expect music radio to be fun, exciting & enchanting. And I’ve worked hard to instill that with the guys that worked with me.

There are so many talented people that work at Vista radio, and they work hard each and everyday at their craft, and when they feel they are ready, they look for their next move, and go on to bigger & better things. I do not want this incident to affect any of those people.

Sending terse letters to Vista management showing your disgust at my firing will unfortunately not achieve anything, why? Because, what’s done is done, and they wont change their minds…

I am thankful that I got so many notes of encouragement, and spoke to some great radio people that gave me some amazingly sound advice…

I was offered an amazing opportunity this morning by Dunner, the PD at CFOX in Vancouver, The Jeff O’Niel Show heard what had happened as suggested that he give me a go. Dunner called me at 9am, and offered me a few shows a week to try me out. I am taking that opportunity, and we’ll see what happens with it. I am thankful to have so many people care about my future.
