Captain Coast and Coast FM help bring on the rain

A century of anything calls for a celebration and next week Mandurah will record a century that has never been achieved before.

Monday March 17 marks 100 days without rain in Mandurah, the longest dry spell in the Peel region city since records began in 1907. So the team at 97.3 Coast FM headed by Captain Coast (aka Wade from the Coast Crew) are set to dance up a storm with a unique interpretation of a rain dance.

And to motivate Captain Coast throughout the breakfast show on Monday morning, Coast FM will be playing everyone’s favourite rain songs.

Facts and figures:

  • Mandurah last recorded rain, 0.4mm, in the 24 hours to 9am on December 7th 2013
  • Currently it’s day 97 of the dry spell, the longest period without rain since records began in 1907
  • The previous record of 77 days was recorded in the summer of 1973-74
