Breakfast with David and Tanya finishes up on KOFM

Long-time radio duo David Collins and Tanya Wilks have announced that, after fourteen years together on air at Newcastle’s KOFM, they have decided to finish the show at the end of November this year.

The duo have a strong standing in Newcastle and the Hunter, and KOFM says they will be sorely missed in the ‘wake up’ spot “not only for their personal banter and feel-good anecdotes but also for the huge amount of community activity they have been involved in.”

David and Tanya for Breakfast has broadcast from various locations around Newcastle and the Hunter, including many Hunter schools, and has connected listeners with what happens locally, nationally and internationally.

The pair have provided support to locals in need, raised funds and delivered heart-warming and emotional listener experiences ranging from singles parties to lunches. Listeners have even been sent to Disneyland and Las Vegas.

David has been working behind-the-scenes for the past 6 years on the KOFM Footy Call Team and when management approached him about growing KOFM’s sports commitment, he deliberated long and hard before taking the challenge. Tanya has been involved with this decision from the start and as his great mate, supports David with his new challenge.

Tanya will be back for breakfast in 2014 and the hunt is now on for a new co-host.

David said: “I’ve always had a “Sports Itch” and this is my chance to scratch it.”

Tanya said: ‘We’ve had so much fun over the years, I’m looking forward to celebrating with you, our listeners at the end of November.”

General Manager Steve Smith commented: “Sport has long been part of KOFM’s DNA and listeners have told us they want broader coverage, and now we have the perfect local person to grow KOFM’s Sport division. We’re looking forward to celebrating David and Tanya’s incredible journey together in the coming weeks.”

David and Tanya for Breakfast’s last show will be on Friday 29 November.
