Austereo invites on-air and off-air talent into their tent
06 Sep 2010
Austereo is hosting a ‘Content Grad School’ to be held in Melbourne on October 13 – the day prior to CRA’s Radiofest. And you could score an invitation, even though you work for another network. It’s open to anyone working on the content side of the business, either on or off the air, with around two or three years experience in Radio under their belt.
There are only twenty places, but its free if you’re selected.
Guest speakers on the day include Austereo’s Head of Content - Craig Bruce, Matt Tilley from Fox FM breakfast, Sam Cavanagh, National Exec Producer - Today Network and other senior members of Austereo’s on air and online teams, as well as Mark Ritson – Global Brand Expert, Melbourne Business School and Brian Ford – Managing Director, Entertainment Strategy Programming.
Craig Bruce says, “We won’t be giving away the 11 secret herbs and spices, but there are some universal principles to making excellent pop radio that we’ll be discussing on the day. Attendees will be given an exclusive opportunity to interact with and hear from the industry’s top radio talent with regards to how they produce ground breaking content.”
The total number of attendees will be around 50 – excluding the speakers. 20 have already been selected from among Austereo’s own people, 20 will be selected from applicants outside Austereo and about 10 will be invited from creative agencies.
Craig says he is looking for 20 ‘graduates’ with two to three years experience and a passion for creating the world’s best content for radio, online, video and social media. Newbies need not apply. He expects them to come mainly from regional stations but has not ruled out those in metro markets
“We’re looking to fill the room with like minded people who have decided they want to spend the next 20 years making great radio and would like some help on how to go about it. We believe that our off air teams build that support our shows are just as important as the on air talent,” says Craig.
For attendees who aspire to work in a metro market, it will also be a way of introducing themselves to Austereo’s senior decision makers. Says Craig, “Austereo has always been focused on harnessing amazing people and this is another way for us to discover passionate radio people. It will be exciting to have the next generation of radio content creators in this country, in the one room.
“I want attendees to come away from the ‘Content Grad School’ with an idea of where the benchmark is. I want them to walk away feeling inspired, knowing where the gap is and how to bridge it,” says Craig.
Applicants are required to send in their CV, current employment and air checks if relevant. Entries close Friday 24 September. To apply go to www.seeradiodifferently.com/austereogradschool
