2UE responds to low morale claims

Yesterday radioinfo received an email from a staff member at 2UE. The email is highly critical of the programming direction the station has taken since the beginning of this year. An edited version appears below.

2UE General Manager, Chris Parker has issued the following response…

I have difficulty accepting that this letter is indeed from one of our staff. Could it, in fact, be from an ex-staffer or a close relative of a disgruntled staffer?

Executing a new and bold strategy of the type needed to reinvigorate 2UE takes a high level of commitment and passion, and I see this from our people each and every day.

We have a plan, we are implementing it and we are on track.

CHRIS PARKER

General Manager

2UE 954

Following is the email sent to radioinfo yesterday…

Hi radioinfo,

I work at Radio 2UE.

Morale here is at an all time low with the 5th Radio Survey released today.

Our breakfast duo Dicko and Sarah are down to an unprecedented 3.4 in the ratings. The lowest they have been in 2UE’s proud 90 year history and nearly half what they were under Jason Morrison just a year ago!

Many of us long term employees who were here during the glory days of Alan Jones and John Laws shake our heads that this new management (all from an FM background or from left wing Fairfax papers) have moved away from conservative talkback to FM-lite unintelligible rubbish.

The station is hemorrhaging money and has lost countless advertisers.

You’d think they’d have learned their lesson and would shy away from airy-fairy tv types with no substance, but rumour has it that others will be joining the line up of under-performing over-paid stars in 2014.

If Gina Rinehart does want to come and buy the station (as has long been rumoured) she’ll get it for a bargain basement price.

Thanks for listening to my rant.
